HIS VERSION:
In 2011, after dating for nearly 4 years we took a trip back to Sacramento to see my Mom for Easter in April. I decided that I would go see the jeweler back home without Vanessa knowing when we got there the day before Easter. So as she helped my Mom prepare food for Easter the next day I took the gas tank for the grill and said I was going to get gas. I then went to the jewelry store and picked out the setting and asked the girls at Sharif Jewelers for approval and they all approved. I had the diamond already because it was actually the one that my Dad bought for my Mom and since she didn’t like to wear diamonds it was in a gold ring that he used to wear.
I kept the ring hidden in my sock drawer for over a week until Wednesday May 4th, our 4 year Anniversary. I decided this would be the day. We went to an amazing dinner at Geoffrey’s in Malibu and I said we should go walk on the beach after dinner because it was a beautiful, relatively warm night. I had the ring in the box in my jacket pocket and after talking, watching the waves crash on the sand, and enjoying the bright moonlight, I got down on one knee on Zuma beach in Malibu and asked her to marry me. With numerous “Oh my God’s!” and “Are you serious?!” and tears rolling down her face I eventually asked “Is that a yes?” She of course said yes! Now on May 3rd, 2013, we will be joined together in front of our family and friends in Los Angeles to officially become Mr. and Mrs. Scott. Can’t wait for everyone to join us in our special day!
HER VERSION:
My “fairy tale” started when I met Sean in 2007. No matter how many years have gone by, he still brings me flowers and remembers our month anniversaries. (My friends hate me for that!). But in 2011 I got the assurance that this is really happening and that Sean in’t going anywhere…he is here to stay! :)
On our 4-year-anniversary, we had that amazing dinner on the coast of Malibu (where the waiter said we gave him hope for love. Hehe). We walked on the beach and had a long talk about how great the past 4 years together had been. When Sean asked “what if I could make it even better?” and got down on one knee, I lost it (I really did). It was one of the best moments of my life and that was just the very beginning of everything.
I have been dreaming about my wedding since I was a little girl. I have always been a hopeless romantic and watched too many fairy tale movies that made me believe every girl deserves to be a princess, even if just for a day. After dating Sean for so many years and going through a crazy phase of engagements in our group of friends, let’s just say I was getting a little anxious about when it was going to be my turn (although Sean and my friends might say that “a little” anxious is far from reality. lol)
Although the wedding is an old dream of mine, the most exciting part is that Sean and I will start our journey together as husband and wife. There is so much more to come and we are very excited for what the future will bring us. We have been through just about everything together and I know he’s the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. I can’t wait for the “happily ever after”!!!
